“Balik-teenager ako with Gallo,” paglalarawan ni Julia sa teleserye chemistry nila ng first-time ka-trabaho niyang si Marco Gallo. “Iba kasi ’yong kilig na mao-offer ni Marco Gallo sa show…si CJ (Gallo’s character) kasi is innocent, forever good intention…parang feeling mo kay CJ, reyna ka, prinsesa ka ng buhay niya…”
Directive pala ni Boss Vic del Rosario ng Viva sa beteranang TV and film writer na si Noreen Capili (Through Night & Day, Parang Kayo Pero Hindi) na gawan ng istorya na pang-TV series ang hit Itchyworms na “Di na Muli” na kinover din ni Viva Records artist na si Janine Teñoso para gawing theme song naman ng Sid and Aya: Not a Love Story.
“Wala pang show, may title na,” k’wento ni Noreen during the media launch ng Di Na Muli TV-5 weekly series kamakailan. “He loves the song so much na gusto niya gumawa ng teleserye about it.
“So, no’ng pinakinggan namin at nalaman naming ’yong essence ng song ay oras, na pag lumipas, di mo na mababalikan, doon kami nag-play around.”
And what she and her team of writers came up with is a story about a girl na may gift (or curse) of pre-cognition. Pag nahahawakan niya sa kamay ang isang tao, she’s able to see their life span.
At dahil sa essence ng “time” ang central time, papasok ngayon ang konsepto ng regrets.
“Lahat ng tao may regrets…mga nagawa at hindi nagawa dahil akala natin marami pa tayong time…so sa story, na na-discover niya na may gift siya to read a person’s lifespan. So, she helps people deal with their regtrets, to do their unfinished businesses. Kasi lahat tayo may wish na makabalik to undo stuff. This teleserye will teach us to spend time wisely.”
Ang “niya” na tinutukoy ng Di Na Muli headwriter na si Noreen ay si Yanna, played by Julia Barretto, whose character ay laging nagho-hold back sa pakikitungo sa mga tao because nga of her in-born capacity.
This project serves as her comeback to primetime TV pero sa TV 5 na. Ito rin ang magsisilbing first project niya with her real-life close friend na si Marco Gumabao and with another Marco, si Marco Gallo.
And speaking of Marco Gallo, hindi daw niya agad pinaniwalaan noong tinawagan siya ng Viva para ialok ang project sa kanya.
“‘Are you guys sure you got the right guy?’” tanong daw niya sa kausap niya sa phone. “That’s Julia and Marco right there. I don’t belong there. ‘No, this is for you.’”
Tila tanggap na yata ng half-Italian na si Marco Gallo na hindi siya pang-bida kaya ganoon ang reaction niya. But looks like fate had other plans for him dahil bukod dito, bida na rin siya sa pelikulang Ang Mananaggal na Nahahati ang Puso ni Darryl Yap.
Pero aniya, nang mahimasmasan na siya ay saka siya nakaramdam ng pressure. But once the teleserye started grinding, nawala na raw ang kaba dahil ma-alalay naman umano si Julia and Marco Gumabao.
“There’s a lot of pressure for it, but it turned out okay.”
Samantala, we asked Julia kung ano ang assessment niya sa chemistry nila ni Marco Gallo, bilang ka-love triangle nila ni Marco Gumabao.
Sila kasi ni Marco Gumabao ay kinakitaan agad ng chemistry nang mag-tandem sila sa YouTube Channel niya through the first episode ng kanyang “Drink and Spill” vlog noong November 2020. Maraming naaliw sa brutalang closeness nila na noon lang nasilayan ng publiko kaya naman naka-2.5 million views ito.
Tila doon din yata nagka-idea ang Viva na si Marco ang ipareha sa kanya sa first ever project niya sa Viva.
Breath of fresh air ang pagkakalarawan ni Julia kay Marco Gallo at sa character portrayal nito.
“Balik-teenager ako with Gallo,” tawag niya sa younger star para hindi magkalituhan sa isa pang Marco.
“Iba kasi ’yong kilig na mao-offer ni Marco Gallo sa show…si CJ (Gallo’s character) kasi is innocent, forever good intention…parang feeling mo kay CJ, reyna ka, prinsesa ka ng buhay niya…
“’Yong with Marco Galllo is more of the first love feels…’yong romance na, ‘Ano ba itong nararamdam ko?’ Parang nagho-hold back ka kasi parang too good to be true kasi baka it might not be true!
“With Marco Gallo, para akong nabalik sa high school. ’Yon ’yong nao-offer no’ng kay Gallo…So, it’s two different romance and kilig between the two Marcos and it’s exciting to see how it will play out when we watch it come together na.”
