He is now its Chief Operating Officer.
January 2021 lang nai-launch formally ang Vivamax and within six months, it’s able to gain 600,000 subscribers making it the Number 1 entertainment app on Google Play, outdoing other longer established local and international streaming brands within this short period of time.
And according to Mr. De Guzman, nakapagtala na ang Vivamax ng 30 million streams.
Dagdag pa ni Mr. De Guzman, that’s due daw to the heavy creative campaign ng lahat ng department ng Viva especially the films marketing group.
Moreover hindi daw bumibitiw si Boss Vic sa pangako niya sa tao na maglalapag ng at least 15 new contents kada linggo—whether it’s a new original production, foreign films purchase, concerts, series, or special events. Walang mintis.
Kaya naman non-stop din ang pag-churn ng pelikula ng film production department ng Viva at patuloy na nakakapag-employ ng mga movie workers—of course while strictly adhering to the government protocols.
“Bumubuka na,” masayang balita ni Vincent del Rosario, Viva’s president and CEO. “Kasi hindi lang mga bagong latag ang pinapanood, the audience also seek out old titles. The library, na masusing kinu-curate no’ng sister ko, si Valerie, is also moving.”
(Valerie del Rosario is the SVP for Content Creation & Development of Viva.)
Just this August, ang daming binuksang global gateways for Vivamax. Pinoys in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Middle East and Europe can now avail of the Vivamax app, with plans to roll out in Australia, New Zealand and North America in the next few months.
According kay Mr. De Guzman, while most of the original contents are global in their treatment and appeal, primary audience daw talaga ang Pinoy.
“Vivamax is a legitimate, authentic service for them…it’s not for everybody, it’s for the Filipinos po,” lahad niya.
Kaya nga daw, Atin ’To ang tagline.
Aniya pa, Vivamax is now reaping the goodwill na ibinigay nila sa audience.
“The secret to Vivamax [success] is not the technology, it’s the content. The service we give is entertainment, it just happens to be in an app.
“When we look at the service now, the product that we are giving…hindi po ito parang credit card na mag-apply ka, monthly i-cha-charge ka. Hindi po ganoon. We did it in the way that we know the majority of our market would like to do. They will pay to come in.
“If they don’t have money, they will not come in. We don’t lock them in. That authentic connection and how we deal with sincerity to our audience, maybe it has developed goodwill and as we continue to develop that goodwill, we also continuously improve our product, our technology, our pricing beyond just the content. And it’s happening.”
She did Tala [The Film Concert]. So that was her contribution to Vivamax, outside of the fact na siya ’yong ambassador ng Vivamax, siya ’yong endorser. In a way, that’s how her presence is felt doon sa platform.”
Pero meron naman daw silang naka-laan for Sarah. Hindi p’wedeng wala.
“Si Tita June Rufino [Torrejon, Viva’s Film Department Head] is consolidating materials to be pitched to Sarah. So, were hoping that by Q1 [first quarter of 2022], she decides to do movies na, makapa-start na siya ng production.”
Kasalukuyan pa silang naghahanap ng angkop na material for a Nadine movie.)

“Si Anne has agreed to do an Erik Matti series. It’s a horror series na si Erik Matti mismo magdi-direk at magpo-produce—sila ni Dondon Monteverde [of Reality Films]. Natagalan ’to kasi si Anne was having a baby. Iwas muna na lumabas-labas. But she promised to get this done on January or February [2022].
“And ang aming Live division, inaayos pa, we’re looking forward to do an end-of-year concert with si Anne…it’s a concert documentary.”
He goes on: “Si Bela [Padilla] has finished three movies for us. Hindi lang mailabas because of different reasons…naghihintay ng [pagbubukas ng] sine. ’Yong dinirek niya, pinupulido pa niya. Eto ’yong 366 sila ni Zanjo [Marudo]…
“Nandiyan sila. Nandiyan sila. So, you’ll see them. You’ll see the big stars.”
“Buo na ang script, ready to grind…then the pandemic happened. E, s’yempre ang daming restrictions. Dapat limited ang tao sa set.
“Since tentpole movie ’yon, malaki ’yong production requirement…hindi namin mai-mount.
Most of them, naghihintay lang na magbukas ang sinehan.
“We’re seeking out artists from other management companies,” dagdag pa ni Boss Vincent. “We feel that hindi kumpleto ang universe ng Vivamax kung puro artista lang namin ang nakikita.
“Madalas kausap ni Tita June [Torrejon] si Tita Cory [Vidanes], si Direk Lauren [Dyogi of ABS-CBN]. Para mang-hiram ng mga artista.
“In fact, a few has committed to do projects with us…sina Carlo Aquino, Barbie Imperial, ’yong kasama ni Kim sa Adik Sa’yo…[JM de Guzman]. Marami, marami…Agnostic kami. Okay kami with any partner.
