After Jamie Spears filed a petition to end his conservatorship on his daughter Britney Spears, the future seemed a lot brighter for Britney and Sam Asghari who did not waste anytime getting engaged and to plan their future together. Sam first met Britney when she hired him to appear as her love interest in her “Slumber Party” music video in October 2016. And from there, they started dating.
After regaining her freedom from her father’s conservatorship, Pop Superstar Britney Spears gets engaged to boyfriend, Sam Asghari.
The 27-year old personal trainer/actor has been dating Britney for five years and he popped the question at the singer’s home with a ring that has a 4-carat round brilliant stone in a platinum cathedral setting, enhanced with a floating solitaire design. It also has Asghari’s nickname for Spears, “Lioness,” engraved inside the band.
The couple posted on Instagram last Sunday (September 12), with the 39-year old pop star sharing a video of herself smiling while showing off her rock next to her new fiancé.
Britney captioned it with: “I can’t f***ing believe it!”
The engagement was also confirmed by Page Six through Asghari’s manager Brandon Cohen.
“The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them. Roman Malayev from NYC is the ring designer. He couldn’t be more happier to be involved and make this a one-of-a-kind ring.”
Malayev, Forever Diamonds NY Founder and Master Jeweler, told Page Six on Sunday: “We are thrilled to congratulate Britney and Sam on their recent engagement. We couldn’t feel more honored to create this ring for such a special couple. Their journey together has touched people around the world and we’re so excited to be a part of their forever.”
Sam adds that he collaborated with the designer for that special ring for Britney: “Every designer I spoke with about the ring was amazing with great ideas, but I just clicked with Roman — we really connected on the design and he was as excited as I was to make it special — that’s why I chose him.”
Earlier last month, both Britney and Sam were seen “ring shopping” at Cartier in Beverly Hills. The “Baby One More Time” singer was seen at the time speaking to a sales rep at the high-end jewelry store and looking at their latest diamonds.
A Page Six source gathered that Sam had been talking about proposing to Britney: “Sam wants to spoil Britney with a very special, over-the-top and meaningful proposal when the time is right. He dreams of one day becoming a dad too, and Britney, of course, has always wanted to have more kids, especially now that hers are getting older.”
But things couldn’t move forward before because of Britney’s restrictive conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008.
The source adds: “Even though they have wanted to take the next step for a while now, Britney and Sam know it would be so much easier to do if she weren’t under the restraints she’s under. But things are steadily progressing toward an engagement, that’s for sure.”
Spears also previously expressed interest in taking the next steps in her relationship with Asghari. During her June 23 testimony, the singer told the court that she wanted to marry her boyfriend and have a baby, but the conservatorship wouldn’t allow it.
“I have an [IUD] in my body right now that won’t let me have a baby and my conservators won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out. I feel ganged up on. I feel bullied and I feel left out and alone. All I want is to own my money and for this to end and for my boyfriend to be able to drive me in his f—ing car.”

The singer also had a brief union with her childhood pal Jason Alexander. They got married in Las Vegas in 2004 and then annulled their marriage after just 55 hours.
Britney was previously engaged to her former agent Jason Trawick in 2011, but the pair called it quits by 2013.
