Kyle, for her part, agreed with Christian.

“But taking note na kailangan kong alagaan ’yong mental health ko, I think the best way to confront a problem is to go through it,” dagdag ni Kylie, who is a mental health advocate. “I-confront mo talaga siya head on.

“I used to want to avoid conflict.

“But if you have to do it for your own mental health, you know, may plano ka naman na balikan ’yong problema na ’yon pag kaya mo na. I don’t see why that would be a problem.

“But for now, as much as possible, wala naman…wala namang tinatakbuhan. I think everything is always clear kapag pinag-uusapan. You make an effort to understand—actually more to understand than to be understood.”

At dahil mental health na ang topic, nasundot pa sila ng tanong kung may naranasan ba silang mental health challenges during his pandemic.

At dito napa-throwback nang slight si Diego.

“The pandemic is definitely a good [example for mental health challenge] but you know ’yong nangyari sa akin noong 2018, that was difficult for me,” panimula ng Viva actor referencing to his hiatus na napabalita at that time na dahil umano sa depression.

“I guess it was a long time coming and marami na ring factors that attributed to the reason why I was feeling that way already.”

“I had to do some self-realizing of what I want to do, what I want to be, and kung ano ba talaga ’yong ginagawa ko,” lahad pa ng binatang anak ni Teresa Loyzaga.

“And it was difficult. It wasn’t overnight. It wasn’t one week. It wasn’t one month. It took a very long time.”

“Sana ’yong sa ibang tao who are going through same experience, you give it to yourself,” aniya.

“Take time off, take as much time as you need para ma-realize mo ’yong mga bagay na ’yon and find out what inspires you. Find out your weaknesses.”

Pagpapatuloy pa ni Diego: “Perfect example itong pandemic, ’di ba? Nakaka-anxiety ito. Alam mo na you can’t control it if you gonna have work. You can’t control when it’s gonna end. You can’t control if you gonna get sick or mahawa ka or ’yong family mo.

“I mean, you can control it to a certain point pero the rest is wala sa control mo, e. So I guess, accepting the things that you cannot control.

“Life is always a process. I’m not saying na it’s because I’ve been through it once it’s never gonna happen again or even other people who have never been through it before…Bigla lang ’yan nangyayari sa tao, sa buhay,” saad n’ya.

“I’m happy it happened to me as early—or as late. I’m happy it happened to me. I’m happy I’ve learned from that process.”

Isa sa sinabi niya doon read: “Focus on where i wanna go and who i wanna be.”

We asked where he want to go and who does he want to be?

“Everyday I’m just trying to be better than I was before,” panimula ni Diego. “I guess I can’t say that there’s specific me that I want to be. I just I think that I  should always be getting better. ’Yon na lang siguro ’yon. I don’t wanna be stagnant na parang walang nagbabago.

“I think it’s very normal that people change and we should never stop changing. Personality-wise everyday you’re growing as person, diba? So, I think you always continue and never stop.”

“Now if specific po ’yong tinatanong mo, like career-wise s’yempre I wanna be someone eventually,” page-elaborate niya. “I’ve in the business for quite a long time, quite a long time and seeing Barbie’s success, my mom and my dad’s success… a lot of people always near me, e. It motivates me na, ‘Crap, I really gotta do something, I  really gotta get it right, you know. Get my priorities right. Keep on grinding.

“Be able to finally get myself a house where I’m not renting…I’m not throwing away money, getting my finances right. I think ’yon muna. ’Yon ’yong standard ko muna.”

He’s chasing one dream at a time daw.

“And then maybe I’ll chase something really, really big. But for the meantime, as a person, I wanna be like, you know, maayos na member of society…na ‘Oh, this guy is able to buy his own house, he pays his own taxes, he works for this company…’

“I work for Viva, I create what I act for movies for the public to watch. At the same time [I] protect my inner peace. Alam mo ’yon? At the same time, I want to be okay within my own boundaries.

“Maybe one day I’ll win an award, maybe one day I will be a recognized actor here in the Philippines or even in abroad. If dumating ’yong araw man… s’yempre they’re all in the back of my head. But I don’t focus on the big ones, I focus on the small ones muna leading to the big one para one day at a time muna.”

Aniya, the new Diego is inspired to work.

“True. True,” natatawang pag-agree niya sa sinabi namin. “And I love it. I love the feeling now na…parang dati when I was younger parang from segue to segue, from taping biglang pupunta ka ng movie set…nabubuwisit ako. ‘Grabe, ano ba ’to parang wala na akong life!’

“Now I see it as: ‘Damn, this is my life!’ And I’m loving every minute of it.’ Kailangan akong ibato dito, kailangan ako pumunta dito. I have to do an interview with Miss Anna [at 3PM]… ‘Okay, let’s go, let’s go.’

“Siguro I try to change my perspective of everything. Instead of being upset of what I can’t change, accept nalang na okay this is what I have to do and I’m happy about it. I have nothing to complain about.”

Work hard and play hard naman ang style ni Diego. Sa tuwing makakatapos ng isang project, he allows himself na makapag-pagpag, so to speak, by taking short vacations with his girlfriend Barbie Imperial (as much as possible). It doesn’t have to be grand. Just to have a time out from work.

Kuya ni Christian Bables, na isang beki, ang role ni Diego sa Bekis On The Run. Mapipilitan silang magnakaw to help an old friend’s medical expenses. Sa kanilang pagtakbo at pagtatago, babansagan silang bekis on the run.
