Noong una raw ay hesitant si Janella Salvador na tanggapin ang anti-hero Valentina role. “But I realized I really don’t have anything to lose, it’s an iconic role.”
“Honest answer, at first…I was hesitant because ’yun nga I’ve never done like this before and sabi ko, ‘Kaya ko ba?’ Is this really for me?” ito ang bungad ni Janella Salvador sa panayam sa kanya ni MJ Felipe ng TV Patrol kagabi, November 19, ukol sa announcement ng ABS-CBN na siya ang napiling gaganap sa iconic kontrabida role na Valentina sa teleseryeng Darna.
“But I realized I really don’t have anything to lose, it’s an iconic role,” pagpapatuloy ni Janella na first time mag-a-anti-hero role.
Handpicked si Janella ng main director ng Darna na si Chito Roño. Para sa multi-awarded director, stand out ang aktres among the auditionees.
“I think she will do justice to the different roles of ’yung character ni Valentina kasi nababalot ’yung character niya sa medyo misteryoso. Janella would be not only capable, but interesting to do that different kinds of characters.”
Bago pa in-anunsyo ng JRB Creative Production ang identity ni Valentina ay nakapag-taping na pala nu’ng isang araw si Janella. And during the Valentina reveal event, mismong ang gaganap na Darna na si Jane de Leon ang nag-welcome sa kanya.
“So, it was my first taping day the other day and so, it’s my first time to work with Direk Chito and I really enjoyed it,” tsika pa
And more than sa paghawak ng ahas, mas natsa-challenge si Janella sa pagko-kontrabida mismo dahil for the longest time ay siya ang bida sa mga projects niya. Isa pang challenge umano ang pagpapa-payat at pagharap sa mga maaksyong requirements ng fantasy TV series.
“Obviously, I just gave birth, so, physically I really had to double-up when it came to losing weight,” natatawang pag-amin nito. “And obviously I’m gonna undergo training for the physical scenes and stuff.
Kung sa ahas lang daw ay hindi naman pala siya takot, base na rin sa ipinakitang paghawak niya sa ahas sa TV Patrol. Moreover, na-factor in na daw niya ito bago pa man mag-audition.
“The moment you audition for Valentina, you would think hahawak ka ng ahas, so, kailangan i-consider sanay naman ako because I have a baby snake.”
Samantala, sinabihan siguro si Janella na isa siya sa dapat mag-audition bilang Valentina dahil bagay din sa kanya ang karakter. Pero dahil medyo chubby pa siya dahil nga kapapanganak lang niya kay Baby Jude ay kinailangan niyang dumaan sa liposuction kay Dra. Vicky Belo.
Base na rin ito sa post ng aktres sa kanyang Instagram account noong Setyembre 26, kung saang na ipinost niya ang kanyang mga larawang karga ang anak at makikitang she was still on the heavy side as oppose as latest figure niya na nakasuot ng green negligee.
Ang Darna: The TV Series ay mula sa JRB Creative Production at sina Chito at Avel Sunpongco ang mga direktor nito.
Makakasama nina Jane de Leon at Janella sina Iza Calzado (bilang original Darna at nanay ni Narda), si Zaijan Jaranilla (na gaganap bilang si Ding), at si Joshua Garcia (ang love interest ni Darna sa karakter na Brian).
Nangangamoy love triangle ito. May fanbase ang JoshNella tandem. Hindi kaya isa ito sa kinonsider sa pagkuha kay Janella?
