“It’s going to be controlled and of course, it’s going to be by invitation only. “We hope we can invite everyone, pero ito po ’yung unti-unti lang natin na pagki-create ng mga physical activities or onsite activities na pinayagan po ng ating mga partners. Of course, with the support of our LGUs (local government units) at IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force).”

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), sa pangunguna ni Chairwoman Liza Diño, has declared the month of September as the Philippine Film Industry Month 2021 (Ngayon ang Bagong Sinemula).

“September 12 is the gala event of the Philippine Film Industry month.

“That was the day that Dalagang Bukid was released in theater in 1919. So, September 12, 1919. So out of the whole month of September, sa 12th ’yung celebration natin.

“And magkakaroon tayo ng events the whole day at the Metropolitan Theater. Starting with the four books na sinuportahan ng FDCP. Magkakaroon din tayo ng premiere ng pelikula ni Direk Elwood Perez for celebrating his 50 years in the business.

“We’re also going to have the Philippine Film Industry gala night kunsaan, ang ating ipapalabas na pelikula ay ang Dalagang Ilocana, a 1954 restored film starring Ms. Gloria Romero and Dolphy.”

Dagdag pa niya: “This is going to be significant kasi sa MET natin gagawin. It’s going to be controlled and of course, it’s going to be by invitation only.

“And we hope we can invite everyone, pero ito po ’yung unti-unti lang natin na pagki-create ng mga physical activities or onsite activities na pinayagan po ng ating mga partners. Of course, with the support of our LGUs (local government units) at IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force).”

“They sent us an official letter advising us of the following coordination na kailangan naming ma-secure,” lahad ni Chair Liza.

“So, number one is finalizing the protocols with the DOH (department of Health). And for them to officially endorse the protocols na mapa-finalize.

“Kasi while there are recommendations and the protocols, actually even DTI (Department of Trade and Industries) has a set of protocols that are coordinated with the cinemas.

“So, kailangan nating ma-secure yun. And pangalawa, to get the support of other partners like DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) and MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority). Kasi nga, sa LGU’s nakasalalay ngayon ’yung pagluluwag or pagre-restrict ng ating quarantine restrictions or quarantine condition sa iba’t-ibang lugar sa Pilipinas.

“As long as we secure those at ma-finalize natin ’yon, we look forward kahit konti-konti.”

“’Yun ang aming proposal, 25% capacity, we can start opening our cinemas.”

“We’re hoping na within the next weeks, ang goal namin ngayong September, makapag-announce kami ng open call for entry. So ’yun ang goal.

“Para may time tayo para makapag-select ng films, para ma-deliberate and of course, enough time for us to promote the films. Pero s’yempre, I want to make sure muna that we can ensure proper screening and exhibition ng films.”
