LOOK: GMA Artists Center’s newly #SignedforStardom artists

Last September 30, 20 showbiz hopefuls were presented to the movie press by the GMA Artist Center and seven of them are celebrity kids (whom we all featured in yesterday’s Batch 1 article).

Here are the rest of the 17 talented lookers all vying for a spot in GMA’s numerous shows and in your hearts.

GABRIELLE HAHN

“I started as a commercial and print ad model,” says lovely Gabrielle after introducing herself at the mediacon. “I actually began my career after graduating from college and I must’ve gone through countless number of VTRs. So, it was a lot of hard work. It was actually immeasurable how much VTRs I’ve gone through. But acting has always been a passion of mine.

“I stared as young as three years old, when I actually do theater world. I started with Repertory [Philippines]. Basically that’s where my interest in acting started and that’s how my passion was formed.”

She says he underwent three auditions with GMA before being accepted as talent of GMA’s talent development and management arm.

“Being part of GMA Artist Center para sa akin is napakalaking karangalan…sana mapasaya ko kayo in any way I can.”

GAB YABUT

The ever smiling Gab says he wants to join showbiz because he wants to help spread positivity and he’s already started by never not smiling.

But given the chance, he wants to be a part of an action movie in the future. But in the nearer future, wants to be able to work with his more senior work-shop classmate, Matt Lozano, as he feels he’s already developed a brotherly bond with him and working with him would be a breeze.

“Sa mga Kapuso po na nasa primetime na, I want to work with Kelvin Miranda kasi I saw his Neflix series, Dead Kids…it’s very action-packed and hopefully, if it’s God’s will, I can work with him and hope he’d give me tips on how to be maangas and all that.”

ASHLEY ALCAYDE

Ashley didn’t have it easy when doing auditions and VTRs before. She would often get discriminated upon because of her morena complexion.

“Kaya I stopped doing VTRs no’ng bata ako kasi morenang-morena po ako and pag pupunta po ako  ng VTR, people would look at me and say, ‘Bat siya na-audition? Pang-mapuputi lang ang audition?’

“S’yempre na-down po ako kasi po nade-degrade po ’yong sarili ko just because of my color.”

That’s why she idolizes her fellow morenas, Gabbi Garcia and Glaiza de Castro. She easily picks them as the ones she wants to work with in the future.

“Gusto ko pong maka-work si Ate Gabbi kasi I’m really fond of her and ’yong confidence po niya sa color niya and sa beauty niya.

“I also want to work with si Ate Glaiza po. Actually, si Glaiza po, idol ko po siya noong mas bata po ako kasi  ang dami pong nagsasabi na maldita po siya…’yong aura po niya maldita. And I relate to her na ang daming nagsasabing maldita but when you see her, when you see her acting, you really can tell na she works with her craft well.”

CARLO SAN JUAN

If he looks familiar, that’s because he was Eat Bulaga!’s Mr. Pogi 2019.

Carlo’s win was followed immediately by the Covid-19 pandemic and that almost dampened his spirits. He thought reaching his artista dream was over.

“Ayon, akala ko, pabagsak na kasi pandemic came and hindi na natuloy ’yong grand showdown namin [sa Eat Bulaga!].  Akala ko wala na. Pero lumaban pa rin ako. Kaya very thankful ako sa GMA na nakuha ako kasi mapo-pursue ko ’yong dream ko na maging successful leading man.”

This former tricycle driver actually just graduated from a Bachelor of Science Information Technology course. But showbiz beckons once more and he couldn’t ignore it.

“My motivation is my experiences na napagdaanan ko. Simula sa pagiging tricycle driver for a year, naging company driver, sumali sa mga pageants…I never stopped dreaming kasi feeling ko, I have a spot to be here kung nasaan man ako ngayon.”

COLEEN PAZ

Coleen calls herself a “raketera.” She is someone who doesn’t pass up on any opportunities. “Go lang nang go” is her mantra and such perseverance led her to become a GMA artist.

“To be honest hindi ko po talaga ine-expect na talagang nandito na ako ngayon sa harap n’yo kasi before this ang dami ko talagang napagdaanan. As in sobrang raketera ako—mostly mga dance gigs, kaliwa’t kanang auditions lalo na pag VTRs for commercials. And luckily nakukuha naman ako.

“Lahat po ginagawa ko, sayaw, kanta, theater…kasi pangarap ko talaga maging artista.

“And I just keep going, keep pushing. Naniniwala ako na lahat will fall into place pag gusto mo talaga ginagawa mo.”

HANNAH ARGUELLES

Hannah’s still in school thus, time management will be her biggest challenge.

But she’s one driven gal and she’s up for the challenge.

“I believe what sets me apart from the competition is that, yes my craft is my passion but I’m also disciplined with it. I make sure that with everything I do, I try to excel. I try to  make people know that there’s someone here who can do their best and who can continuously give it to them.

“And I’m completely blessed to have GMA as a home for my craft and the way they hone me as an artist is something very surreal and amazing. So, I would take this opportunity to thank my GMA Artist Center family.”

JEFF MOSES

Jeff describes himself as “raketero din gaya Coleen [Paz].” Meaning, he’d grab any chance to audition or take part in anything  that leads him closer to his dream

“Bata palang ako pangarap ko nang maging artista  and I keep pushing myself forward at maging inspiration din sa ibang tao na kagaya ko ding nag-a-aspire din na maging artist.”

He’s still in the honing-talent stage but someday, he wishes to act alongside his idol, Alden Richards.

“Because napaka-versatile niya po sa work niya. And kung may genre naman po ako in mind na gustong gampanan, una siguro romcom po kasi mahilig po akong manood ng mga ganoong movie and mga teleserye. Sa ngayon po, sinisikap ko po na ma-hone ’yong talent ko.”

KIRSTEN GONZALEZ

Possibly the youngest in the group, Kirsten simply dreams of having a show with all her batch mates present.

“Gusto ko pong maka-work ang mga batch mates ko kasi I’ve witnessed their talents and their struggles. Alam ko po lahat. Nakita ko po kung paano sila mag-work, how dedicated they are to their craft and hopefully po magka-project po kami.”

Addressing her batch mates, she naively adds: “I’m so excited para sa mga future na projects natin and I’m hoping we can all be successful in this.”

LEVINCE SOTTO

This 17-year-old 11th Grader from La Salle College- Antipolo has the Korean idol aura and that’s possibly his ticket to be part of GMA’s new roster of talents.

It helps that he’s already doing lead roles in theater plays in school.

He wants to work alongside his batch mate Saviour Ramos, son of Wendell Ramos, as he thinks they have acting chemistry. But his bigger dream is to act exchange dialogues with GMA’s prime talent Alden Richards.

“Ever since po no’ng bata ako, idol ko na po siya when it comes to acting.”

LIME ARANYA

“Before po ako mag-ano dito sa GMA, ako po ay nagmo-modelling around here in Cavite,” pag-intro ni Lime na singing daw ang pinaka-pambato among her talents.

Lime became a bit emotional during the mediacon as she mentioned her mom being her driving force.

“Kasi siya po ang nagpu-push talaga sa akin.  Naniniwala po siya sa akin. And I hope na mapakita ko pa kung ano pong makakaya ko.”

Lime idolizes the “pagiging natural” nina Jennylyn Mercado at Barbie Forteza onscreen at ’yun daw ang gusto niyang matutunan.

Gusto ko pong matuto sa kanila how to keep it more natural [onscreen].”

SEBASTIAN PAJARILLO

After a year in showbiz, Sebastian has finally been given his break to appear in the Alden Richards-starrer, The World Between Us. And he’s certainly hoping na may kasunod pa iyon.

Although inclined to sports, Sebastian believes he’s also built to be an entertainer dahil drawn daw siyang manood ng mga teleserye even as a kid.

Kasi naalala ko pa noon no’ng bata ako, palagi akong nanonood ng mga teleserye sa GMA, most specifically ’yong Mulawin. Tapos, every time na nanonood ako no’n, naiinggit ako sa kanila kasi ang dami nilang napapasayang tao.

“Tapos, ’yon ’yong parang drive or motivation na nakuha ko sa pagpo-pursue ng show business talaga.

“For me, wala nang mas sasaya sa puso ’yong alam mong kaya mong magpasaya ng ibang tao. Kaya I want to be one of those entertainers who can influence a lot of people by using my platform to tell people na if I can do it, what’s stopping you from doing it?”

SHEEMEE BUENAOBRA

Twenty-four-year old singer Sheemee hit it first in an international arena before landing a spot in the GMA Artist Center.

“I was able to represent our country in D’Academy Asia in Jakarta Indonesia,” k’wento ni Sheemee about her stint sa successful talent search in Indonesia noong 2019.

That’s my first time actually. Sobrang gandang opportunity po for me.

Upon coming home, she readily auditioned for GMA’s own talent search, The Clash.

“Pinush ko, nakapasok sa grand finals kaya nandito ako ngayon,” say ng Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration graduate from the University of Caloocan.

SHANNEL AGUSTIN

Shanelle has already made an appearance in The World Between Us as the young Lia (Jasmin Curtis) and having experienced such, she now dreams of starring in her own teleserye someday.

Though soft spoken, this pretty lass has had her heart broken several times while in pursuit of her dreams. So don’t underestimate her drive.

“My biggest dream is maging bida sa isang teleserye and mapakita ko po ’yong talent ko sa pag-acting.

Siguro po mao-offer ko sa public is ma-inspire ko po ’yong ibang artists na kagaya ko dati….gusto kong sabihin sa kanila na it’s okay maka-experience ka man ng rejection sa pagwo-workhsop, sa pag-a-audition mo, It’s okay. Just be yourself and enjoy ’yong ginagawa mo.”
