Pregnant Jennifer Lawrence says she is already feeling the mama-bear instinct

Jennifer Lawrence is back and she openly shares her life as a pregnant woman and why she took a break from acting.

The 31-year old Oscar winner made her first public appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert after a three-year hiatus. She is alo now pregnant with her first child with husband Cooke Maroney.

Colbert remembered that Jennifer was a guest on the show back in 2018 and they talked about her wanting to take a break from acting to concentrate on her personal life.

“What did you do for the last three years?” asks Colbert.

Jennifer responds with a laugh and says: “I just had a ton of sex… I’m joking!”

During the pandemic, the actress had that chance to be a wife to her husband. And keeping house was part of the deal.

“I cooked a little. I mean, the pandemic happened, then I cooked and I cleaned a lot.

“I think I would be a really good housekeeper. I mean I make a mess, but I am really good at cleaning it up. I can attack a mess. I love to clean the kitchen while listening to podcasts about murder!” she muses.

On being pregnant, J.Law says she is already feeling the mama-bear instinct.

“If I was at a dinner party, and somebody was like, ‘Oh, my God, you’re expecting a baby,’ I wouldn’t be like, ‘God, I can’t talk about that. Get away from me, you psycho!’

“But every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can.

“I don’t want anyone to feel welcome into their existence. And I feel like that just starts with not including them in this part of my work.”

Talking to People magazine, J.Law learned a lot about herself while she was out of the Hollywood spotlight.

“I’ve always found comfort in a schedule and doing something, you know, and being somewhere. And just kind of the comfort of being, you know, on set where the world is one thing and very organized.

“You know, and there is not like people screaming, and I think coming out of Hunger Games and all of that, was nice.

“I took a break and nobody really cared, and it was quiet and I got to like, I don’t know, kind of feel like I could become part of the world again without fanfare, literal fanfare.”

Jennifer Lawrence was the world’s highest-paid actress in 2015 and 2016 after winning the Academy Award Best Actress for Silver Lining Playbook in 2012, making her the second-youngest Best Actress winner at 22.

This led her career to bigger film projects like the X-Men film series where she played Mystique and the Hunger Games film series as Kathniss Everdeen. There was also American Hustle, Joy, Red Sparrow, Passengers, and mother!

Her films grossed over $6 billion worldwide and she appeared on Time’s 100 most influential people in the world list in 2013 and in the Forbes Celebrity 100 list from 2013 to 2016.

Last December 5, Lawrence walked the red carpet again after three years to attend the New York premiere of Netflix’s Don’t Look Up.

Speaking with E!, Lawrence said that she felt different being on the red carpet again.

“I was having this out of body thing. I’m, like, not here — if that makes sense. I’m not processing it.

“I haven’t spoken to the world in forever. And to come back now, when I have all of these new accessories added to my life that I obviously want to protect,” pointing to her baby bump.

Jennifer stars with Leonardo DiCaprio in Don’t Look Up, a dark comedy directed by Adam McKay. They play two astronomers who set out on a media tour to warn the public that a meteor will destroy Earth in just six months.

Lawrence shared her personal struggle filming the movie because of a lost tooth.

“I actually lost a tooth pretty early in the filming. And I couldn’t go to the dentist until the end of the movie, so I had to film most of the movie toothless,” she laughs.

Losing a tooth wasn’t the only mishap J.Law encountered while filming. She also swallowed the nose ring her character wears “many times” and, at one point, spit it out in front of co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.

“One is a magnet. And many, many times I accidentally inhaled said magnet and had to spit it out in front of Leonardo DiCaprio!” she laughs.

But it got worse. J.Law was reportedly struck in the face with glass in an on-set accident that caused production to shut down for the day.

Making an appearance in the movie are Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Ariana Grande, Timothée Chalamet, Matthew Perry, Himesh Patel, Cate Blanchett, Rob Morgan, and Tomer Sisley.

Don’t Look Up premieres in select theaters on December 10 and arrives on Netflix on December 24.
